Now Open: Walking & Biking Dog Friendly Trails
Grand Lake Metropolitan Recreation District has developed new scenic mountain biking and hiking trails on the recreation district land. Single track trails will wind through fun and exciting terrain, with vistas of the three lakes, Colorado River, and wetlands with wild flowers.

Phase I: NOW OPEN! Currently being developed by local mountain bike riders and hikers. Almost 5 miles of trails open at the end of July. Most trails allow dogs. Parking lot at the trailhead is currently being constructed.

Phase II and III: working to create a network of 20 to 30 miles of trails. As trails develop, viewing areas with picnic tables will be created.

Trailhead/Parking: Take U.S. Hwy 34 North toward Rocky Mountain National Park and Grand Lake. Go past the entrance to the town of Grand Lake, approx. 1/4 mile, turn left on County Road 48. Follow signs to Grand Lake Golf

Golf News
With the typical spring weather of the Rockies, coupled with continual late snowfalls we saw some delays in the ever anticipated opening, of the golf course. But, we are happy to announce that the golf course opened Memorial day weekend for the 2008 summer season.

Bill Winfield has resigned to pursue other avenues in his career, and will be surely missed, we wish him the best with all his new endeavors.

Don Campbell will continue to be the PGA professional and take over Bill's responsibilities for this season as the Director of Golf. He is looking forward to a new season and welcomes fresh ideas. Please feel free to contact him at 627-8008 or donc@grandlakerecreation.com

Tournament News
The Annual ISC (Independent Sports Club) Charity Tournament was held on June 21. With perfect weather that day, the event was a great success. Proceeds from the event go to help local Grand County athletes to participate in sports camps and events they might not be able to otherwise attend without the ISC financial support. Thank you to everyone who participated!

Maintenance Department

Allen Brown CGCS, Golf Course Superintendent reports "Although we had a slow start with all the winter and spring snows, summer is here and the golf course is coming along quite nicely. With the spring cultivation projects behind us the maintenance staff is now focusing on manicuring and grooming the golf course. In addition to this we are continuing the clean up work in the forested areas, removing logs and slash as well as removing and grinding stumps working towards getting these areas ready to reseed."

Restaurant News
Laurie Blecich at the Sly Fox reports "Layne, and Marilyn are back for another summer. We have some new items on our menu this year, we hope you'll enjoy. The Sly Fox is now open, serving from 7am to 3pm. Looking forward to seeing all of my pals, so hurry back! See you @ The Sly Fox!"
